5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating can't suffice the beauty and intentionality of this masterpiece by Dr. Daniela Nkemta.
Committed to participate in the Read to Impact READ AFRICA Challenge - Read 2 Books set in Africa or by an African Author in 2 weeks (13/09/2026 - 26/09/2026). This was my second book of the challenge still by a Cameroonian author - as was my focus during this Challenge.
I've been beyond blessed by this book. I intentionally decided to complete it 1 day later - thanks to Doctor on call duties, making it an 8 days read.
Clearly, Dr. Daniela wrote this book - a memoir of her young and beautiful love story with her husband - as a collection of letters & source of inspiration to her first daughter, Heavenly, whom they were expecting during the writing of this book. It was so beautiful to read through a mother's thoughts and the great plans she has for her child, way before she ever arrived earth.
But here's the deal, I honestly felt like it was written to me too. I enjoyed reading through their intentional love story. Of course, it wasn't an easy one to begin with. But the Central factor of this book being focused on God's Love for each of us. That we're greatly called upon to living and loving for His Glory can't be overlooked. And that was and has been the foundation of their triumphant love.
What's special about this book is that beyond being inspiring and transformative, it has allowed me to just be in a very reflective mood as I evaluated my current relationship.
She and Mmy Linda Nzometia advised every reader to take in the book slowly and so I did.
But I'm marvelled at how much I could look into my current relationship, reflect over the strengths and weaknesses of our individual selves and also our committed partnership and just gracefully write my heart out in the reflection prompts, almost always with a smile. Full of gratitude and intentionality to grow and become better in building this Christ-centered relationship, for I know the road ahead is worth the friendship & Love we're building devotedly.
Do we still have work to do? Yes Can we achieve our own Godly Romance, unique to us? YES WHY? Because I have yet seen another beautiful and realistic believable reference in the pages of this book.
