π BOOK REVIEW O'CLOCK! π
Book Title: Before I Was Ready Author: Noelle Ngwafor-Achu Genre: Christian Romance Book Length: 27 Chapters + Epilogue Rating: βββββ 5 stars! My Review:
Guyssss, I'll be open about my rating progression for this book because it was a whole journey! When I first started reading, I thought, "Okay, this is nice, the cover is stunning, I love the writing style and plot direction, itβs giving a solid 4 stars." But as I got deeper into the story, around the 60% mark, I found myself so deeply invested that I bumped it up to 4.5 stars. By the time I hit that last 10%? I was completely blown away. The ending was so beautiful it easily secured a perfect 5-star rating from me! π€©
The romance between the two main characters, Anwi and Emil, is just swoon-worthy. It is so incredibly realistic (it felt incredibly like it was set in Nigeria, but it's actually set in Cameroon) that I could actually see their story playing out in real life, or even being adapted into a movie! I was literally blushing, giggling, and kicking my feet the entire time. π«
But what really makes this story a masterpiece is the MMC, Emil. His transformation throughout the book is insanely good. He wasn't perfect at the beginning, but watching his growth and spiritual journey made me so unbelievably proud of him! Not many men own up to their flaws and grow like Emil did in this book. Plus, he's an architect/real estate developer (my current academic pursuit), so that makes him hotter in my books. π
I absolutely loved how the author seamlessly wove the meaning of the title, Before I Was Ready, into the actual story. This book perfectly showcases what a godly, Christian relationship should look like. Anwi and Emil didn't just fall in love; they interceded for each other, enabled each otherβs visions, and truly helped one another grow into better versions of themselves. Even though they stressed me out in the middle with their couple drama sha. π₯²
(π€Mild Spoilers Ahead) I cannot talk about this book without mentioning that breathtaking ending! From the moment Anwi gifted Emil the beautifully illustrated (very significant) map for his birthday, to the unforgettable scene where he surprised her with pink construction boots and a helmet, I was in literal tears.
I highly, highly recommend this beautifully written novel to every Christian lover girl/guy out there.
