Day 1 went well. I’m done with the novel and what I loved about this is:

*Review of Forever Kind of Love*

Nonso’s character was sweet and beautiful, and sometimes highly infuriating to read, but he grew. He really did. He forgave people who had hurt him badly. He stood up for people when you least expected him to. He was generous with his money, worked hard for what he had, and wasn’t just a placeholder CEO sitting in an office looking important.

Reading his story felt like reading one of my usual white-people novels, except with a very Nigerian flourish. The Nigerian hustle, the family dynamics, the business culture, it made the story even more fulfilling for me. I genuinely learned things about business that I wasn’t expecting to learn from a romance novel, and I can tell Adesewa put a lot of research into this book.

Even if she did favour the Igbo side very heavily. 😂

As for Zinna, she was such a strong female character. Funny, hardworking, rich, beautiful, and so sure of herself. She worked hard to get where she was and was such a smart woman that I actually learned quite a bit from her.

What I especially loved was that her strength wasn’t just about being successful or confident. She had previously been in a relationship where her boyfriend couldn’t handle the fact that she was a successful career woman because it made him feel less of a man. He abused her, but she eventually found the strength to leave. And I really admired that. She didn’t allow someone else’s insecurity to become the limit of her life.

The way she reacted in some situations was also so similar to how I know I would react too.

And we both don’t like cooking! 😂😝

And Nonso loves her like that.

I digress.

Zinna’s character felt complete on her own. She didn’t necessarily need some dramatic transformation or huge character arc because she already knew who she was. She was simply lovely to have on the page, and I’m so happy both of them found each other.

A wonderful end to a series I mistakenly stumbled upon.

I do, however, have one major complaint: I hated how much premarital sex there was across the series. What bothered me even more was how normalised it was within the story. I know it’s fiction and everyone has different values, but it definitely took away from my enjoyment at times.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed this book and I’m glad I stumbled into this series in the first place.
