📚 BOOK REVIEW O'CLOCK!

I just finished reading Field of Grace by Rosemary Okafor, a Nigerian retelling of the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz. And honestly? This was such a beautiful retelling. This is my second book for the RTI Africa Reading Challenge, and I really enjoyed the experience.

What I loved most about Field of Grace was the storytelling and creativity behind the retelling. Taking a familiar biblical story and giving it a distinctly Nigerian setting while still retaining the faith element was beautifully done.

The characters were another highlight for me. I genuinely loved them, and Chinua? 🥹 Such a sweet guy. I had no choice but to add him to my book boyfriend list. 😂

I also enjoyed how realistic the story felt. The romance wasn't just there for the sake of romance; it felt human, warm and believable. And I loved seeing the biblical story translated into everyday Nigerian life without making it feel forced.

There's also Chinua's smart farm, which I found particularly interesting. I actually picked up a few things from the way the farm was run. Who knew I would be learning a little about farming while reading a Ruth and Boaz retelling? 😂

I don't have a lot to say about the book right now because, honestly, sometimes you simply finish a book and think: "I enjoyed this."

And that's exactly how I feel about Field of Grace.

Beautiful story. Lovely characters. Creative retelling. Faith. Romance. And a reading experience I genuinely enjoyed.
