This was a very impactful read for me. The Gift of Being Yourself is based on this premise: "There is no deep knowing of God without a deep knowing of self, and no deep knowing of self without a deep knowing of God." Benner further puts across that the desire for uniqueness and authenticity are not just psychological, but spiritual desires that mirror the will of the Father. He further explains that as we grow, we put on a false identity connected to the image we want to project, and most of the time it is subconscious. To be our true selves (which we don't arrive at, it is something that we have always been) we must strip away the false self that we have embraced and trade it for the self that we see when we gaze into the face of Christ. While the book itself is short (it's less than 150 pages) it is definitely worthwhile. The kind that prompts a person to re-read the book (which I will be doing). It's an unquestionably recommended book from me to the people on this platform. I assure you, you will not feel that your time is wasted.
